Benefits of Art as Therapy

There is more to the cancer battle and other chronic illnesses than the fight of the diseases themselves. There is an emotional element that looms large. Patients, families and caregivers experience a flood of emotions that require reflection, expression and understanding. That is not always easy to do for both patients and care givers when undergoing treatment.

We have been touched to the extent by which the artistic process heals and gives counsel to these dimensions. We have experienced it as care givers and patients.

We offer a free service to members of support groups and treatment centers to encourage individuals to express the thoughts and emotions they are feeling as a result of their current diagnosis and or treatment resulting in progress towards treatment of the whole person.

Patients and families are able to uncover hidden thoughts and feelings through participating in the creative process. It is believed that in discovering these ideas, patients and their loved ones gain personal insights that facilitate healing the emotional and relational aspects of dealing with disease.

We also believe that whether any specific issues are identified or not each individual can benefit from the enjoyment of creativity. A strong emphasis on just having fund is made for each participant and workshops are not considered art classes.

Many medical facilities throughout the world are now employing music and art therapies into their programs. We have witnessed a sense of unity members of a support group can establish when working on an individual or collaborative projects that helps relief some of the feelings of isolation people feel when faced with disease.
